The first week of our Summer Arts Camp is complete! We had a wonderful first week getting to know the campers. This week they were introduced to the artists Piet Mondrian and Paul Cezanne. They created graphic insects and did an amazing job drawing a still life with oil pastels. In photography, cameras were explored in preparation for our first project next week, while in sculpture their clay creatures are drying and almost ready to be sent home. In drama, we began to build our curriculum together while learning theater vocabulary and warm up games.
It was a busy week that ended with our first set of workshops today. We had visits from The International Girls Ensemble and artist Oksana Danzinger. Amanda and Kinsey from IGE led the girls in theater games and collaborative creativity while Oksana taught the boys (and some girls who chose this workshop) how to paint on fabric using fabric dyes and embroidery hoops.
Next week we will be exploring watercolor, pop art, acting techniques, a photography scavenger hunt and much more. Our visiting artist next week will be The Long Island Children’s Museum, all the campers will be participating in a gaming workshop. We are all super excited!
I have attached a few photos from this week. We will be taking photos and videos for an end of camp film/slideshow that you will all have access to once it’s completed. It will be a great memory of Summer Camp 2019.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I almost forgot, make sure to ask your kiddo to sing the song they co-wrote with Ms. Briana, it’s a winner. ☺
Enjoy the weekend,
