DESCRIPTION:Westbury Arts is proud to bring to the screen\, as part of our Documentary Film Series\, four short films by the incredibly talented award-winning filmmakers\, Kevin Lopez and Annmarie Ragucci. Each of these films introduces us to Long Islanders who are focused on making the world a better place and bring joy to others. \n  \nThe Films: \n“SHARING THE STOKE” – Dylan Hronec is a surfer with cerebral palsy\, who shares the stoke with friend Cliff Skudin\, a world class surfer from Long Beach\, NY\, and co-founder of Surf For All. \n“RIDING REDEMPTION” – The North Shore Horse Rescue and Sanctuary farm in Baiting Hollow\, NY\, serves as a healing place for both humans and horses. \n“WHEN IT SNOWS” – Marty Bevilacqua is an extraordinary man from Long Island\, NY\, who pays tribute to his son through his magnificent snow sculpture creations\, thrilling families all winter long. \n“THREADS OF NATURE” – Through the intricate dance of crocheting\, Long Island based fiber artist Alicia Evans weaves a compelling narrative\, merging her passion for trees and the environment\, revealing the delicate threads that connect nature\, art\, and humanity. Westbury Arts is honored to be hosting the world premiere of this film. \nEach film showcases the filmmakers’ unique style and ability to transport audiences into captivating narratives. Lopez has made his mark in independent cinema\, producing powerful social dramas like “The Inquisition of Camilo Sanz” (2014)\, “The Hudson Tribes” (2016)\, “Paradise City” (2019)\, as well as the HBO acquired documentary\, “Primera” (2021). He’s also the creative force behind award-winning short documentaries such as “Mind Up” (2014)\, “Sharing The Stoke” (2016)\, and “The Mortician Magician” (2018). Beyond his cinematic endeavors\, Kevin passionately advances film and media arts education. As a New York City Public High School Principal\, Kevin is uniquely positioned to create enduring pathways between CTE Classrooms and the expansive world of Film & Television. \nAnnmarie Ragucci bridges the world of communication therapy with the magic of film. As a dedicated speech and language pathologist with the NYCDOE\, she champions the voice and expression of countless individuals\, ensuring they’re heard and understood. Parallel to her clinical work\, Annmarie’s artistic endeavors shine brightly. As the director and producer behind the poignant “When It Snows” (2019)\, the riveting “Riding Redemption” (2020)\, and the inspirational “Sharing the Stoke” (2016)\, she masterfully weaves narratives that captivate and resonate.
