DESCRIPTION:“To The Editor” are three words that are quick and easy to write. But actually getting a letter accepted for publication can be a whole other matter. Join us for a conversation with two experts on the matter: Chuck Cutolo ’73 and Richie Kavesh ’73 have\, between them\, had dozens of letters to the editor printed over the years in The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, Newsday \, and other publications. They will be sharing their experiences of what makes it more likely that a proposed letter will stand out to an editor amidst the hundreds\, if not thousands\, of submissions. Joining the discussion and adding her insights from “the other side of the desk” will be Susan Mermelstein\, who has recently retired from The New York Times\, where she worked for more than 30 years\, including 15 as a senior staff editor handling letters to the editor.
