DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited to the Opening of the Exhibition: Inspiration Rediscovered – Mixed Media Masterpieces\n  \nFrom paint to clay to wood to bottle caps\, Inspiration Rediscovered is a celebration of mixed-media artwork and assemblage art. \nThe use of assemblage as an approach to making art was mastered by Joseph Cornell who was a premier assemblagist who elevated the box to a major art form and one of America’s most innovative artists. Westbury Arts invited artists to “upcycle” found objects in order to create beautiful pieces of artwork in any style of their choosing or create mixed media art and submit their original work for a juried show at our gallery located at 255 Schenck Avenue in Westbury\, NY. \nRibbons will be awarded in the following categories: \n\nBest in Show\nMost Unique Use of Materials – 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd\nMost Unique Shape or Form – 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd\n\nFollowing the Opening Reception\, our gallery will be open for viewing this exhibition according to the following schedule\, through September 29\, 2023. \n\nThursdays\, from 12:00 – 4:00 PM\nFridays\, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM\nSaturdays\, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM\n\nAdmission to the reception and gallery is free\, and free parking is available in the municipal lot on Schenck Avenue after 6 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends. \nClick the link to RSVP for free: Eventbrite \nWestbury Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Producer Doug LeClaire brings the World’s Best Short Films back to Westbury to present the 12th Annual Westbury Short Film Concert. The first film blasts on to the screen at 8:00 PM. This eclectic screening of independently produced short films is recommended for ages 16 and way above. \nAsbury Shorts combines classic shorts with new global honorees creating a rare opportunity to see world-class films on a real cinema screen rather than YouTube\, computers\, or smart phones. The September 8th lineup will feature a mix of U.S. festival “Best of Show” winners and international hits with many audience favorites from over the years. DESCRIPTION:Starting in October\, EastLine Theatre will be opening its doors to a new generation of artists through a program called Gen Connect. Gen Connect is a free arts program that provides space for teens to express their ideas and tell their stories. Interested teens will sign up to participate in weekly workshops at Westbury Arts\, guided by artists in theater\, music\, poetry\, visual arts\, and more. Over this three month program\, teens will explore issues and themes that matter to them\, and create their own artwork to put their thoughts to action. The program will culminate in an open mic-style event at Westbury Arts that will be open to the community.
