He is Professor Emeritus of University Studies at Hofstra University and Leader Emeritus of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island. His books have been translated into Japanese\, Chinese\, Bangla\, Dutch\, and Spanish. \nAbout the Book: The first encounters between Indigenous people and Europeans\, the enslavement of Africans and their fight for freedom\, fox hunting millionaires and Italian immigrants\, and the development of suburbia until the present day — All this is presented in Westbury Imagined\, a book of history\, fiction\, memoir\, and poetry that celebrates this diverse Long Island community. \nWhether you’re a fan of Arthur Dobrin’s previous works or simply curious about the power of his stories\, this event is not to be missed. For our November exhibition\, Westbury Arts invited fly fishers and admirers of fly fishers to submit artwork related to or inspired by fly fishing. \nAt the Opening Reception\, you’ll have an opportunity to meet the artists\, hear a panel discussion\, and view this stunning artwork. This event is free and open to the public. The black and white “tuxedo” look donned by most penguin species is a clever camouflage called countershading. In this class\, you’ll learn to paint your own “waddle” of penguins. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a beginner\, this event is perfect for everyone. \nDuring the event\, you’ll have the opportunity to learn different painting techniques and create your own masterpiece.
