CALL FOR ARTISTS Chasing Rainbows: A Celebration of Queer Resilience

Westbury Arts, in recognition of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, is seeking artists whose work relates to our theme, Chasing Rainbows: A Celebration of Queer Resilience. The pride rainbow is a symbol of political and social intervention that connotes safety, support and positive feelings about oneself.

From bold declarations of self to quiet explorations of inner worlds, this exhibition seeks to highlight the richness and diversity of LGBTQ+ life and culture. Artists are invited to submit works that reflect their own interpretations of pride, resilience, and community. We encourage LGBTQ+ artists and allies to share their truth, amplify their voice, and contribute to the ongoing conversation around LGBTQ+ identity in the arts.

The exhibition will feature a vibrant mix of artistic media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and digital art, allowing artists to express their individuality and perspectives. It aims to foster a space where stories are shared, identities are celebrated, and dialogues are sparked about the challenges and triumphs faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Through this initiative, Westbury Arts hopes to inspire empathy, understanding, and a deeper appreciation of the colorful spectrum of human experience.

DEADLINE AND IMPORTANT DATES:

Submission Deadline: Entries must be submitted online before 11:59 PM on Monday, June 9^th by 11:45 PM

Acceptance Notification: sent to artists by Wednesday, June 11^th.

Artwork Delivery: 255 Schenck Ave. on Friday, June 13^th between 2PM and 6PM and Saturday, June 14^th between 10AM and 1PM

Opening Reception: Saturday, June 21^st from 4PM to 6PM

ELIGIBILITY: Must be 18 years or over. Original creative works to be considered can be either 2 or 3 dimensional in the medium of choice, and securely wired to hang. 3-D works may be limited by our ability to properly display them. Artwork that does not adhere to requirements will not be exhibited.

SALES: You may offer your artwork for sale, or it will be marked NFS (Not for Sale). Artists agree to donate 20% of the sale price to Westbury Arts of any work sold during this exhibition.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: All entry submission information must be included. Judging for 2-D and 3-D works will be done entirely from JPEGs or PNGs labeled with your name and title of the work. No other formats will be accepted. Maximum file size for any individual image is 100 MB. Up to three works can be submitted by an artist

Size Restriction: no bigger than 48 inches on the longest side.

SUBMISSION FEE (for up to 3 works):
$30.00 for current Westbury Arts members
$35.00 for non-members

A panel of Westbury Arts’ Exhibition team will determine which works will be accepted. Considerations will include relation to the theme, artistic merit and the absence of nudity. Your completion of the entry form will serve as your acceptance of the terms and conditions stated herein. All decisions will be final.
