OPEN CALL INFORMATION FOR:

“HONORING OUR VOICES: SHARING HOPE”

This is an open call for artwork to be exhibited in “Honoring Our Voices: Sharing Hope,” at Westbury Arts in November and December, 2025. The featured artist, Emily Barnett, will curate the exhibit, along with a committee from Westbury Arts. The exhibition seeks to explore our individual ways of honoring people and events that have moved us as individuals, or our nation, in a positive direction. The show is open to a wide interpretation across a range of personal, artistic, and societal experiences. In a world in which many of our stories are often ignored, quieted, or shut down, it is more important than ever to make our voices heard. Themes may include honoring the voice of someone in our family, a mentor, or someone in the public sphere who affected us in a positive way. Submissions may honor an idea, or a group, that speaks out on issues that concern us, such as social justice, gender equality, global warming, and economic equity. The goal of the show is to instill hope through the visualization of our voices, thus tapping into our combined strengths. Work will be accepted across visual disciplines, such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, mixed media, and drawing.

Westbury Arts, located in Westbury, Long Island NY, is a small community-based art center/gallery that is volunteer-based with strong connections to the surrounding community.

• Size limit: 36” width (framed). Free-standing sculpture must have its own pedestal.
• Images must be submitted as JPEGs or PNGs. No other formats will be accepted. Maximum file size for any individual image is 100 MB.
• Submissions due: Saturday, November 8, 2025 by 11:59 PM
• Acceptances sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2025
• Art delivered to Gallery: Friday, November 14th, 2025 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Saturday November 15th, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
• Exhibition installed Saturday, November 15th from 12:00 to 5:00 PM
• Opening Reception is November 16^th from 3:00PM to 6:00PM
