WEEK FIVE SUMMER CAMP
WEEK FIVE SUMMER CAMP WRAP UP!
Only one week left and Summer Arts Camp will be a wrap. It always goes by so quickly.
We really packed in a lot of activities this week. Alex and Henrri have been working with the campers to create comic books, Roya definitely lived up to my favorite motto – art is messy, while they were making their collage selfies and Christophe experimented with printing using found objects! Briana and Henrri have been rehearsing for performances during our closing celebration next week and I can’t wait for you to see how far they’ve come.
Our guest artists this week were truly one of a kind. Valerie was here again with her vintage sewing machines.
As an introduction to quilting, Valerie helped the campers create their own “square study” by teaching them how design their piece, pin their fabric to prep for sewing and use the machines to finish their fabric art. Although she was able to bring in 3 machines, there is always some wait time before everyone can have a turn. Valerie brought in ribbons and dowels so the campers could make another project while they waited and once they finished their sewing. The fiber wall hangings were a big hit!
Our other guest artists at POP! Draw managed to snag the Jedi master himself, Obi Wan Kenobi! AS you can see form the photos below, they did an amazing job of capturing their live model. I have never seen kiddos so focused on a task as they were during live drawing.
Please be user to check your email for information about the celebration AND the photo exhibit at the Westbury Arts Gallery.
I look forward to seeing you all at the closing celebration on Friday 8/13!!
Many thanks,
Patty
