The Greater Westbury Council for the Arts (Westbury Arts) has some artist opportunities with our upcoming art exhibit in conjunction with Hicks Nurseries on April 21–23. The art exhibit will afford artists exposure to hundreds of visitors at Hicks and will be supported by promotion through the Greater Westbury Council for the Arts and other social media.
FREE Open Call for Artists: 2D and 3D Submissions
Open to artists living and/or working in the greater Westbury area and its surrounding areas.
Open call for local artist participation in the upcoming Pop up Gallery sponsored by the Greater Westbury Council for the Arts in collaboration Hicks Nurseries. This event will take place on Thursday, April 21st from 6pm to 9pm thru April 23rd from 4pm to 9pm. The Westbury Arts Pop up Gallery will be located in the seminars room at Hicks, located off the main floral displays. Artwork will not be available for sale at this event but, artists are encouraged to provide contact and promotional material which will be displayed alongside their artwork.
Theme: The call is open to local artists to submit work that incorporates themes related to Earth Day (flowers, nature, botany, etc). Artists working in natural materials are also invited to submit their work for consideration. Please visit www.hicksnurseries.com to familiarize yourself with the venue and subject matter.
Submission guidelines: Original works in 2-D and 3-D in any medium no larger than 36” x 48” except for video and installation art, can be accommodated. You may submit up to 4 pieces for consideration. Send digital images of proposed artwork via email, as attachment, to [email protected]. Email must include; artists name, location, contact information, medium and dimensions of proposed artwork. All accepted artwork must be delivered to Hick’s Nurseries on Thursday April 21 by 2:00 p.m., ready to hang or display.
If your work is accepted, we will notify you via email no later than April 10. Due to the tight schedule, you will only be notified if you are accepted. Entries without contact information cannot be considered.
Pick up date and time for artwork is Saturday at 8:30pm.

Open Call for Artists/Crafters: Workshop/Demos
Open call for local artists and crafters to participate in the upcoming Art Exhibit sponsored by the Greater Westbury Council for the Arts. We’d plan to include to our visitors free opportunities to view an artist demonstration or workshop. The demos/workshops will be in conjunction with the three day Art Exhibit sponsored by Westbury Arts at Hicks Nurseries.
Theme: The call is open to local artists and crafters to teach or demonstrate their unique art techniques either as a workshop or as a demonstration. Workshop themes should be related to flowers, nature, botany, etc or other natural materials. If you are interested in performing a live demonstration you will need to bring your own supplies. If you are doing a workshop the Arts Council will be willing to reimburse you an agreed amount of expenses.
