Summer Concert Series

Call for visual artists: Summer concert series

The Greater Westbury Council for the Arts (aka Westbury Arts) is seeking 6 visual artists to display and sell their work during our Summer Concert Series.The Summer Concert Series runs from June through September and there will be one artist exhibiting during each concert. Ideally, artists will be paired with musical acts based on some thematic similarity. Artists will will have an approximately 10′ x 10′ space to display their work and will supply any tents, racks, tables, chairs, easels, etc necessary to display their work. Each artist will receive a $50 stipend for participating. No commission will be collected for the sale of artwork.  

The available dates are as follows:

  • June 3 – Time Passages (classic rock)
  • June 17 – Elias Ladino Ensemble (Ladino/Sephardic music)
  • July 1 – Musical act: TBA
  • July 29 – Plaza Theatrical Productions: “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” (theatrical production)
  • August 5 – Sonido Classico (Latin Big Band)
  • September 2 – Julie Lyon Quartet (Jazz)

Deadline for submission is March 31, 2016. Artists should send examples of their work (links to website or Facebook Page are encouraged) Preference is given to artists who are Westbury Arts members. Sign up to become a member at

Westbury Arts President, Musician

Julie and her husband Tom Cabrera (also a founding member) have been with Westbury Arts since its inception. She started as a board member and then Recording Secretary before being elected President in 2015. Born in Milwaukee, WI and raised in central Florida, Julie has a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from The University of Central Florida and currently leads a jazz quintet and records on the Unseen Rain Records label. Her background includes purchasing, 15 years in IT as an A+ Certified technician and more recently HR, payroll, and bookkeeping.
