“The winter solstice is a turning point, not just astrologically, but also in our psyches. Artists since ancient times have mined its rich symbolic, metaphoric and spiritual imagery. The visual possibilities are endless. “Winter Solstice — Darkness to Light” is a theme that resonates greatly with my own work, and lends itself equally well to abstract and figurative interpretations.”

JUROR: Laura Powers-Swiggett exhibits widely on Long Island. She works in a variety of media, including acrylic, oil and gouache.
