Westbury Arts, in cooperation with the Village of Westbury Recreation Department, is conducting a six week summer arts camp for children ages 6-12, in Westbury, NY. The Summer Arts Camp will be in session from July 9th-August 16th, Monday through Thursday 9am – 2pm daily.
We are in search of teaching artists in all disciplines including, but not limited to visual arts, dance, theatre, voice, music etc. To apply, please email your resume and your website link to Patty Eljaiek. Qualifying candidates will be invited to a group interview on May 17th, 2018 at 6pm in the Westbury Community center.
Positions to be filled are as follows:
Visual Artist: 4 days/week, 9am – 11:30 am for 6 weeks; starting 7/9 and ending 8/16.
Performing/all other artists: 2 days/week, 12pm – 2pm, 3 week unit each. There are 4 positions, in total, available for the afternoon session. Two teachers will be needed for the first 3 week afternoon session from 7/9-7/26 and two teachers for the second three week afternoon session from 7/30-8/16.
Please note that this is a part-time job and will require you to work independently under the supervision of a camp director. Visual artists will follow the curriculum created by Westbury Arts; teaching artists in all other disciplines will be in charge of designing a curriculum consistent with our general curriculum guidelines. You will also be required to attend an orientation session in June (date TBA) and be available for the scheduled days and times agreed upon.
***Pay: $35/hour (PT)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience working in schools or in a youth development role.
- On-time, professional, and effective communicator.
