Artist, art teacher, and project manager Marie Saint-Cyr is the new program associate for Westbury Arts!
Since our inception in 2013, Westbury Arts has grown exponentially. “It makes sense for us to hire staff at this time to take some of the burden off our volunteers,” says Julie Lyon, a founder and president of the board of Westbury Arts. “It is a necessary step in the evolution of Westbury Arts and we’re excited to have reached this milestone.” Ms. Saint-Cyr will play a key role in fulfilling the organization’s mission of bringing programs to the community that connect, educate, and inspire.
Ms. Saint-Cyr, who currently lives in Wyandanch, was a Westbury resident for 10 years after coming to the US from Haiti. She wishes that as a child she knew more about artistic opportunities in the community. “I see as one of my goals creating awareness of what is available, particularly in the immigrant community,” she says. Ms. Saint-Cyr received a bachelor’s of art at Fashion Institute of Technology and studied at the Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy.
Ms. Saint-Cyr worked as a teacher for Westbury Arts Summer Arts Camp. “We personally know that she’s smart, capable, reliable and an extremely gifted artist,” says board member Joe Moran. “She’s digital savvy and willing to tackle projects and learn new things.”
