ARTISTS: Get a jumpstART on your artistic career! Learn about the fundamentals involved to best grow your business – your art! Listen to other artists who have succeeded in making a living with their art. This program is for motivated artists who are committed to hard work and not afraid of challenges.

East End Arts has developed an intensive curriculum dedicated to the business side of the arts (visual, musical, performance, creative writing, etc.) With the necessary tools, an artist is better able to take advantage of creative opportunities that arise and be aware of opportunities that exist.

*NEW* in 2017! A new component to JumpstART is Curatorial Training.

JumpstART applicants have the opportunity to apply to participate in the specialized curatorial training workshops in addition to the general JumpstART workshops. Professional responsibilities of a curator will be studied along with the hands-on experience of curatorial practices. Workshops will be offered in research and concept development, the logistics of curating exhibits, aspects to consider when hanging and installing an exhibit and funding, marketing and grant writing in relation to your project. Participants will be responsible for executing a culminating exhibit that is not representative of solely their work.

As in all JumpstART projects, curatorial or other, EEA stresses the importance of the public aspect of the culmination of your project and the engagement/interaction with the community. Improving public spaces, fostering community and strengthening economic development through the arts remains our mission.

Consideration for participation in JumpstART is by application.

All accepted participating artists will have the unprecedented opportunity to design and implement a public arts project in downtown Riverhead during the Summer of 2017. Take advantage of the amazing opportunity for your artwork to get high visibility through public presentation. Let the entire East End be your audience!
