Farmers & Artists Market Vendor Spotlight: Victoria Taylor

posted in: News 0

This summer, Westbury Arts and Sunnyside Markets are teaming up to launch the Westbury Farmers & Artists Market. Each market will feature up to twenty-five booths selling local produce and original artwork. Throughout the season, we’ll be highlighting some of our fantastic vendors.

Meet Victoria Taylor.

How did you get started in your field?

I majored in art in college and while there tried every type of hands on craft I could, including metalsmithing and jewelry making. I even took a jewelry class during my semester abroad in Italy. When I graduated I was saddened that I no longer had access to the studio and facilities I had while at school where I was fabricating, soldering and casting. So I turned to making jewelry with whatever I could at home, starting out using materials like polymer clay, shells and wire. I opened up my Etsy shop. Then I honed my wire wrapping technique more and more, took my shop more seriously, bought better materials and started vending at craft fairs and taking custom commissions.

What kind of products can be found at your booth at the Farmers and Artists Market?

You can find handmade jewelry such as necklaces and pendants, bracelets, earrings, ear climbers and rings made from silver, copper, beach glass and shells from my local Long Island beach findings, polymer clay, beads and gemstones. My best sellers has been a made-to-order Solar System necklace or choker that is made from silver wire in intricate and unique patterns around beads representing every solar system planet.

What makes your products unique?

My handmade designs tend to be non-repeatable in nature so every piece is uniquely conceived and one of kind from the next piece. There’s always going to be something new if you keep checking in on my shop as new ideas, designs and product lines hit me.
